Saturday, November 10, Des Moines Creek Park

The forecast rain subsided early, and mostly sunny skies welcomed 49 runners to the first Northwest Trail Runs event at Des Moines Creek Park. This was also the first time we've offered a timed run, with 3-hour and 6-hour options and a relay for teams, of which there were three. Seattle Running Club's 4-person team (3 men, 1 woman) ended up running 39.1 km (24.3 mi), a lap ahead of MerGeo.com (2 m, 1 w) and Manny's (1 m, 2 w), who each covered 37.3 km (23.2 mi). Manny's Kara Nielsen edged MerGeo.com's Aaron VanderWaal in a sprint finish.

Thanks to the volunteers: James, Michelle, David, Aaron, Ruaraidh, Kimberly, Mike, Chris and Jaimee. Thanks also to Seattle Running Company for their support. SRC provided the socks, shirts and hats that some runners won by random drawing. Northwest Trail Runs will take a winter break, but we recommend you check the calender below or SRC's group runs for some winter trail running opportunities. The next NWTR run will be next March 1 (Saturday), again at Des Moines Creek Park with the same distance choices.
