Northwest Trail Runs RankingsThe Northwest Trail Runs Rankings award points to each runner based on how that runner's time relative to the rest of the runners. Points are inversely proportional to running time, so a runner that is ranked 70 points could expect to run a course in half the time of a runner ranked 35 points. The ranking method used to calculate the rankings for each event uses runner rankings from other events to factor in the strength of the field when assigning points. This way, points can be compared from event-to-event without regard for the strength of the field, which gives runners a good way to compare their performances on different courses. Each runner's ranking points are calculated by taking a weighted average of that runner's five best results:
This means that running more races gives you a chance to improve your ranking, but runners can be ranked with only one result. Rankings by Date
